Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited Reports profit after tax of RMB 66.7 billion for the first half of 2009

Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited ("ICBC" or the "Bank", SSE: 601398; SEHK: 1398) today announces its interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2009. Based on International Financial Reporting Standards, ICBC's profit after tax for the first half of 2009 was RMB 66.7 billion, up 2.8% from the same period last year. Earnings per share was RMB 0.20. The steady growth in earnings resulted in further enhancement in investment return for shareholders. The Bank's annualized return on average total assets and return on weighted average equity reached 1.26% and 20.86%, up 0.05 and 1.43 percentage points from the end of last year respectively.

US financial economist Robert J. Shiller receives Deutsche Bank Prize in Financial Economics 2009

The highly respected US economist Robert J. Shiller receives the Deutsche Bank Prize in Financial Economics 2009, an award that carries an endowment of €50,000, today in Frankfurt. During a symposium titled "Financial Innovation and Economic Crisis" being held in connection with the award, leading financial economists, including Nobel Prize laureate Robert C. Deutsche Bank strengthens its presence in Eastern Europe with a new subsidiary in the Ukraine

Deutsche Bank officially opened its new subsidiary in the Ukraine. With the "Open Joint Stock Company" (OJSC) "Deutsche Bank DBU", based in Kyiv (Kiev), the bank is strengthening its Central and Eastern European franchise. Target clients include multinational corporations and small and mid-cap companies from Germany and Western Europe as well as corporate and institutional clients in Central and Eastern Europe. The focus of the new subsidiary's business operations will be on Global Transaction Banking, which comprises cash management, trade finance and forex management. Investment banking activities are scheduled to be expanded over the years to come.

ICBC and BBL have agreed on the Sale and Purchase of Shares of ACL Bank

Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited ("ICBC") and Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited (“BBL”) jointly announced that the two banks have reached an agreement on the sale and purchase of shares in ACL Bank Public Company Limited (“ACL”). At the same time, ICBC declared that it will make a tender offer to all shareholders of ACL. The transfer by BBL of its shares in ACL to ICBC under the agreement above will be completed as part of the said tender offer.

Wells Fargo Eliminates Remittance Transfer Fees To Philippines For Families And Friends Affected By Typhoon Ketsana

Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) —with its remittance network member Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) – is temporarily eliminating all remittance transfer fees (normally $5 or $7) for customers sending money using the ExpressSend® service to friends and family in the Philippines impacted by Typhoon Ketsana (also known as Typhoon Ondoy). The fee waiver is effective September 29 through October 12, 2009. Wells Fargo also is donating $100,000 to the American Red Cross for relief efforts.

Deutsche Bank reaffirms No. 1 position in Asian M&A
